Frome Festival Short Story Competition 2021 is now open and entries of 1000-2200 words are invited on any theme.

We were delighted to receive so many excellent stories in 2020 and to feel connected with so many writers all over the UK and beyond. Sadly, we were unable to hold a prizegiving event last year,  but you may read the winning entries by clicking on the links below.

Plans for this summer are uncertain at present, but the competition will take place as in previous years, with the usual closing date of 31st May. Please see Rules for full details.

Our guest judge this year is Frome-based writer, Frances Liardet, author of the acclaimed 2019 novel  ‘We Must Be Brave’.

We look forward to reading your work!
