Frome Festival Short Story Competition 2021 is now open and entries of 1000-2200 words are invited on any theme.

We were delighted to receive so many excellent stories in 2020 and to feel connected with so many writers all over the UK and beyond. You may read the winning entries by clicking on the links below.

Frome Festival is going ahead this year and the competition prize-giving will be held on ECOS, Frome’s Merlin Theatre’s outdoor stage.  This year we are also able to offer an additional prize for a local writer aged under 21. The closing date is 31st May as usual. Please see Rules for full details.

Our guest judge this year is Frome-based writer, Frances Liardet, author of the acclaimed 2019 novel  ‘We Must Be Brave’.

We look forward to reading your work!
